Glass engraving - Lady in Thorns
Engraving's a different process from most of what's in the Wall Art range. Instead of carving MDF or pressing a block, this one's cut directly into the surface, line by line, with nothing printed or templated underneath it first.
It takes longer than the bolder pieces I do, mostly because a face doesn't forgive mistakes the way a skull or a snake does. Get the shading slightly wrong on a portrait and the whole thing falls apart.
The frame's Rimu, pulled from an op shop rather than bought new. I like that it's already been something else before it ended up holding this.
If you've spent any time around tattoo shops, you've probably seen a version of this exact image somewhere a woman's face, a rose, a bit of danger built into the prettiness of it. It's one of the older tattoo images still getting done today, and there's a reason it's stuck around this long.
