The Hulk

The Hulk is one of those characters that doesn’t need much introduction. Big, angry, green, and instantly recognisable.

I hand-carved this design into MDF and printed it using Flint water-based block ink. The carved surface gives the print some texture and depth, while the bold artwork keeps the focus where it should be on the Hulk.

The piece is finished in an upcycled op-shop frame. I like using old frames because they add something to the finished piece without taking away from the artwork.

This is for the Marvel fans, comic book collectors, tattoo enthusiasts, and anyone who grew up with the Hulk. It has the look of something that could have come off an old comic shop wall or a tattoo artist’s flash sheet, rather than feeling like typical superhero merchandise.

The artwork takes inspiration from traditional tattoo flash and hand-carved wood

art, with the roughness of the carving and block printing left visible rather than trying to make everything perfectly uniform.
